High Spen Community Association are bidding for money to fund a monument to the heros of the village who have been awarded the Victoria Cross for bravery in past wars. £12,000 is needed.
A design for the monument has already been put together by local children with the help of an artist and a prototype can be seen in High Spen School hall.
